While searching for Sita ji, Lord Rama, Bhayya Lakshman and Hanuman ji found this Jatayu bird in a dead condition. Lord Ram ji had a word hole at that time out of compassion. For Jatayu it was "Le Pakshi", after whom the village was named Lepakshi.
In the form of Jatayu bird has been built at the exact same place today. There is a big rock on a shallow watch, on which Jatayu bird is made of stone. To go on which is made of iron straight. Which falls 1200 meters before the Lepakshi temple on the way.
