Features of Lepakshi's Veerabhadra Temple
Lepakshi Veerabhadra Temple is dedicated to Veerabhadra, a Rudra incarnation of Lord Shiva. The sanctum sanctorum of the temple has 3 chambers, in which Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Veerabhadra have a room in the temple. In this way, the temple is divided into 3 rooms, which are the main mandapa, Arda Mantapa and the sanctum sanctorum.
At entrance of the sanctum sanctorum, pictures of Lord Shiva, 14 incarnations, images of divine beings, saints, musicians and dancers are painted in the ceiling. This is not found anywhere else in the world. This is called a mural painting. Which is made on the wall or in the ceiling. Its measurement is said to be 23 feet x 13 feet. To see from below, one has to look up towards the ceiling. In the rest of the temple, the frescoes of the characters of Ramayana, Mahabharata and Purano are made in the ceiling. There is no vacancy anywhere.
